The present study investigates some quantitative aspects of the tonic vocalism of the western Emilian dialect of Piandelagotti based on a corpus of data collected in 2008. It considers the relation between tonic vowel and post-tonic consonant lengths in three different syllabic structures: in open syllable and in vowel lengthening contexts, the vocalic length is (nearly) double the consonantal length, whereas in closed syllables they tend to be equivalent. Further investigation of the postonic contexts in closed syllables revealed differences in the respective V/C rating. Thanks to the result obtained in the second part of the analysis dedicated to the distinctiveness of vowel quantity (V/V: 0.55), it is possible to place the Piandelagotti dialect under the Gallo-italic dialects.
